FAQ
Common questions
Answers to the questions we hear most from families and adults getting started with OCD and anxiety treatment.
Getting started
01How do I get started?
Fill out our short New Patient Screener. We’ll reach out within 24–48 hours to schedule a free consultation. You can also call us at (404) 462-5533.
02What happens in the free consultation?
It’s a brief call to learn what’s going on, answer your questions, and make sure we’re the right fit. If we are, we’ll match you with a clinician and talk through next steps.
03How soon can I start?
Availability changes throughout the year. We’ll share current openings during your consultation and work to find a time that fits your schedule.
04Do I need a diagnosis or referral?
No. Many people come to us before they’ve ever been diagnosed. We’ll assess what’s going on as part of getting started.
05Who do you work with?
Children (ages 5 and up), teens, adults, and families. We also work closely with parents, whether or not their child is in therapy with us.
About treatment
06What services do you offer?
We specialize in OCD, anxiety, and related conditions, including selective mutism, tics and Tourette’s, health anxiety, phobias, ARFID, and more. See all services.
07What is ERP, and will it be scary?
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) helps you gradually face fears without rituals or avoidance. You set the pace together with your therapist, starting small. Nothing happens without your agreement, and kids are never forced. Learn about ERP.
08How long does treatment take?
Every person’s path is different, so there’s no set timeline. We’ll set goals together at the start, check in on progress regularly, and adjust as we go.
09How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your goals.
10How are parents involved?
For children and teens, parents are part of the team. We also offer SPACE, a parent-based approach that helps parents respond to anxiety in ways that build their child’s confidence. Learn about child and teen OCD.
11Do you work with schools?
With your permission, we can coordinate with teachers and school staff. This can be especially helpful for selective mutism and school-related anxiety.
12Do you prescribe medication?
No. We’re therapists, but we’re happy to coordinate with your child’s or your own psychiatrist or pediatrician.
13What makes you different?
Our approach is active, structured, and grounded in evidence-based care. We don’t just talk. We help you build the tools to face anxiety and create meaningful, lasting change.
